Melbourne’s queer arts and culture festival, Midsumma is kicking off their 2019 program with something different this year, beginning with a Consent Festival at The Melba Speigaltent.

Jacob Thomas, the Consent Festival Chair, joined Robbie & Dean on MAD Wednesdays as they looked at the Consent Festival Program for Saturday 19th January.

This one-day, special event explores conversations that connect ideas of consent with LGBTQIA+ communities, welcoming intersectionality and accessibility. Engage through open forums, practical workshops, deep-dive discussions, and even sparkling performances, all inside a safe space to unpack the taboos, share experiences, and unite in passion and curiosity.

Workshops include, Consent 101Consent in RelationshipsConsent in Health  and Consent in Workplaces.
Between times, the Melba becomes a hub of craft, creativity and conversation for people to connect with speakers and each another.

Once the day is done, celebrate this one-of-a-kind event with a range of cabaret and variety superstars hosted by Fringe Wives Club.

The Consent Festival is presented by MEAN Projects, Circus OZ and the Melba Spiegltent and Midsumma Festival – get your tickets and be a part of how we understand, change, negotiate and shape consent for our LGBTQIA+ communities now and in the future.
