It’s been a quiet few weeks on the new music front for radio as all the major labels took a break over Christmas and New Year, although a couple of good little tracks did sneak through last week. The first of those was on 1 January, when Lady Gaga abandoned the R. Kelly collaboration on ‘Do What U Want’ and re-released what was already probably the best track on Artpop, this time with Christina Aguilera to help out – taking her cue from the reaction to their live performance on the US The Voice final.
Texas-based duo Tritonal and British trio Dirty Vegas also got in early for new music.
This week we see a much better effort from Enrique Iglesias than the original version of his last single. Despite teaming up with Pitbull, ‘I’m a Freak’ is lots of fun.
Ellie Goulding has what should be another hit from Halcyon Days with her latest single.
Colbie Caillat hasn’t really troubled the pop world for a little while but has teamed up with One Republic’s Ryan Tedder. The lead single from her forthcoming album is directed squarely at a pop audience.
Swedish house continues to flow with or with the mafia thanks to Rasmus Faber and Linus Norda this week.
We have Aussie music from Melbourne-based producer Jolyon Petch and Sydney-based vocalist Natalie Conway, it’s called Another Universe.
Last but not least, we have music from UK out-and-proud JOY favourite Peyton this week too!
