Kicking off our new music this week is a little song that surprised us as much as it may surprise you. Keith Urban is not really known for his pop songs – 37 singles in the US Hot Country charts, including 18 number ones – so a song he’s recorded with US X Factor 2005 winner Carrie Underwood was a delight to hear, especially when we spotted the video of Keith and his wife, Nicole Kidman, doing a carpool karaoke of their own on facebook. ‘The Fighter’ is just pure fun-pop.
Out-and-proud American biracial singer-songwriter Parson James came to our attention when he collaborated on Kygo’s second single, Stole the Show. While his debut release about coming out to his mother in a small country town, A Sinner Like You, was never a single release in Australia, we loved that one, too. His first official solo single in Australia is Temple, and we think you’ll love it.
UK four-piece girl band Little Mix were in town performing this week, and to coincide with the tour, their fourth single, Hair, hits our airwaves.
American pop-rock band One Republic has been a little quiet over the last year, although lead singer Ryan Tedder has been busy helping write and produce hits for a number of other artists. ‘Wherever I Go’ is the first taste of a forthcoming fourth studio album from the band, and it’s a ripper.
