We kick off our new music this week with another stunning house track from LA-based Aussie DJ-producer Tommy Trash. This time he teams up with LA and London based singer-songwriter Daisy Guttridge. ‘Sinners’ is assuredly good for your musical soul.

American singer-songwriter Rachel Platten first came to world attention in 2015 with her anthemic hit ‘Fight Song’. We’ve been hanging for new music for a little while now, but we think she’s hit the mark with her latest single, ‘Broken Glass’.

Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber has been the featured vocalist on a number of big hits recently, but ‘Friends’, produced by American producer Bloodpop (Michael Diamond), is the first featured-artist release in more than a year from the young hitmaker. It’s a step away from his R&B roots and moves him firmly onto the dancefloor.

British pop star Olly Murs has teamed up with his compatriot Louisa Johnson to release the fourth single from his fifth studio album. Let’s hope ‘Unpredictable’ gets more traction here in Australia than the previous four singles have.

UK girl group Little Mix have borrowed the recent ‘Despacito’ strategy (the Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee song that added Justin Bieber to create a worldwide hit). They’ve taken ‘Reggaeton Lento’, a 2015 hit by the Latin American boy band CNCO, and sliced themselves into the song at strategic points to provide a multilingual, intercontinental version for the English-speaking market. Like ‘Despacito’, this has hit written all over it.

Portland-based rock band Portugal, The Man picked up an advertising sync in June for Apple’s iPad Pro.It’s propelled them onto the world stage and given them a worldwide hit with the single ‘Feel It Still’, lifted from from a 2014 album.

Set your alarm and tune into Michael on the Six at Six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
