New music to weekdays (30 August 2017)

New week, new music, new music director, but still Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix.
Aussie DJ and producer Hook N Sling gets the ball rolling this week, with a song to dance to. Now living in Los Angeles, he enlists the support of Digital Farm Animals to deliver ‘Arms Around Me‘. You’ll have the Hook stuck in your head for days after hearing this one.
Everyone’s tried calling the old Taylor Swift, but we’re very confident she is dead after hearing her latest release. ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ is the lead single from Swift’s sixth studio album, ‘reputation’, due for release in November. The music world waited with bated breath for the song to drop and it’s been making news since, especially with the premiere of the video during the VMAs. It’s certainly no ‘Shake It Off’, but, with a few listens you’ll be singing along.
It’s a flashback to 2000 with a new remix of an Australian dancefloor classic. Melbourne-based producer Andy Van was one half of Madison Avenue and has remixed the song that peaked at #1 in Australia and on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music chart. Cheyne Coates’ furry blue midriff-top-and-shorts combo also won the duo an ARIA Award in 2000 for Best Video. Andy’s remix of ‘Who the Hell Are You’ will get you dancing once again and is a perfect addition to our signature uplifting mix.
Sometimes something a little different gets added to the lineup, and the newest single from Sydney’s Stand Atlantic falls into that category. The three-member band was formed in 2015 and has just teamed up with an international record label to release their debut EP. ‘Sidewinder‘ is the third single from the EP and has just the right mix of drums, guitar and vocals to land in your ears during the day on JOY.
Set your alarm and join me on the Six at Six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
