There are bangers and bops galore this week to bring a lift to your workday.
Musical throwbacks are big right now, with everyone wanting to hear something they know. Melbourne’s L’Tric and Chloe Wilson throw it right back to 1976 with a remake of a Boney M classic. ‘Sunny’ was developed over the course of the last Aussie summer and it’s now peeking through the winter clouds to bring some fun to your day.
‘Energy’ has been hitting home runs since its release a couple of months ago, climbing to the #1 spot on the ARIA Club chart. Melbourne-based producer Stace Cadet created the banger along with Sydney’s KLP, and it’s now got a remix made for radio. Mell Hall, best known to our communities as one of Poof Doof’s favourite DJs, gives the track a disco twist and turns it into a dance-floor-ready bop. Once this one strikes, we reckon you won’t be able to stop dancing.
Sydney’s St. Christoph & Shaade have described themselves as “Australia’s most iconic duo”, combining soulful luxury with a hip-hop feel. Their second single is ‘Callin”, a cool ditty that would make the perfect soundtrack for a top-down convertible drive along the beach. It’s something a little different for the mix, but we think you’ll groove along.
British band BLOXX formed in 2016 and soon caught our attention with Your Boyfriend in 2017. Fronted by queer singer Fee Booth, the band will release their debut album, Lie Out Loud, later this week and the third single from it is ‘Off My Soul’. It’s a song about sex and love and is a rock-pop bop that we think you’ll get excited over.
If you’re bubbling with energy, ‘Feels in My Body’ is made for you. Delivered with a punch by Swedish duo Icona Pop, this track aims to inspire you to share that energy with others. Best known for their 2012 hit I Love It, Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo hit 10 on the banger scale to get you dancing wherever you are.
Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano have the final banger ace up their sleeves this week with ‘Life After You’, made to bring a smile to your face. Featuring vocals from RANI (of Post Malone fame), the latest from the Dutch-Surinamese DJ duo is packed with summer feels and the kind of chorus you’ll want to pump your fist to as you sing it out loud.
