Let us lift you up with Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix, which now includes these bangers and bops for your listening pleasure.

Under the secrecy of lockdown, Dua Lipa enlisted queer DJ-producer The Blessed Madonna to remix her second album. Club Future Nostalgia will be revealed on 28 August, with its first banger dropping into the playlist this week. The club rework of Levitating features Madonna and Missy Elliott and delivers an electro-synth track that we think you’ll be all over.

We’ve been waiting to see what Miley Cyrus had lined up for 2020 and we’ve finally been rewarded for our patience. Midnight Sky has the feel of an 80s synth-pop hit, with Miley’s recognisable vocals floating alongside the driving click track. We reckon you’ll be thankful for the pansexual singer’s musical offering.

HILDAJessica Mauboy‘s fourth studio album, was written about the Aussie singer-songwriter’s family and dedicated to her grandmother. The final single release from the ARIA #1 album is ‘Butterfly’, created as a dedication to Jess’s parents for what they’ve taught her about love. It might be a ballad, but it’s made for bopping to.

Times were different in 1997: Tasmania decriminalised homosexuality, The Castle shone a spotlight on suburbia and digital TV got its first trial. The Cardigans also got to the #11 spot on the ARIA chart with ‘Lovefool’. German production duo twocolors have taken the 1997 hit and made it their own with an electro-house rework. You’ll know the words, and we think you’ll be surprised by the sound.

Dolly Parton pleaded for Jolene not to take her man back in the 70s and now RAYE is asking, Natalie Don’t. The British singer-songwriter was introduced to Australian audiences thanks to her work with Jax Jones in ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and recently with Regard in ‘Secrets’. This new single is the second from her forthcoming fifth EP, Her Heart Beats in 4/4, and is the bop you never knew you needed.

For the past year, Swedish singer-songwriter Michel Young has been working with Jonas von der Burg, who is best known for making September a household name. They’ve continued to churn out the bops, and Michel’s latest release is no exception. ‘Darling’ is everything you’d expect from Swedish-produced pop, and we’re certainly not complaining.

It’s taken two years for Jubël‘s cover of Toploader’s 2000 hit (itself a cover of King Harvest’s 1972 release) to make waves, but thankfully it’s finally here. Sebastian Atas and Victor Sjöström, along with singer NEIMY, had success with ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ in their native Sweden back in 2018. Somehow it took hold in the UK this year, charting like crazy across radio, streaming and physical sales. It’s made for summer and is sure to be your go-to when we’re able to dance together all night long soon.
