Saturday 9th Sept, 2023: Memory Lane Cafe at the VPC, David Imber, DEP. CHAIR VPC, , Samantha Jewell (Lifeview) & Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe AM
Fiona and Paul talk to David Imber, DEP. CHAIR VPC,  Samantha Jewell (Lifeview) & Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe AM, about the Victorian Pride Centre’s collaboration with Dementia Australia and our Founding Major Partners Lifeview Residential Careto launch a new ‘Memory Lane Café’ at Victorian Pride Centre, commencing this September. We would love your help getting word out to JOY listeners and followers about this program fostering social connection for LGBTIQ+ people impacted by dementia (whether as carers or people living with dementia),any promotional support would be appreciated – socials, eDMs, community service announcements, or on-air interviews.
Each Memory Lane Café pop-up event will provide a safe and inclusive space for people from LGBTIQ+ communities living with dementia and their carers in which participants can socialise while enjoying refreshments and entertainment.
Research highlights the prevalence and impact of social isolation and stigma experienced by people living with dementia, but the successful Memory Lane Café program led by Dementia Australia, which has been embraced across the country, is changing this narrative.
The event is free to attend, and bookings are essential. Call the National Dementia Helpline on 1800 100 500 or email vic.memorylanecafe@dementia.org.au to find out more or to register your interest in attending.
