On this week’s show were joined by the phenomenal, powerhouse performer, poet, activist and convener Fleassy Malay, as we discussed her work, her life and running Mother Tongue for ten years. Coming up for International Women’s Day, Fleassy is running a very important tenth anniversary gala for Mother Tongue.
We spoke about the event and so much more. Language warning in this podcast, as Fleassy’s poems are very raw.
Women Of Banyule and Beyond – An International Women’s Day Event – March 8th
Mother Tongue Poetry is celebrating International Women’s Day and their 10 year anniversary with an evening gala to connect and celebrate all women.
The event will celebrate women’s voices through performances of spoken word, poetry and song.
Mother Tongue is an LGBTQI+ led organisation and has been running events across Melbourne for 10 years platforming the voices of women and gender diverse people who identify as women.
This event is supported by a Banyule City Council Arts and Culture Project Grant and Community Bank East Ivanhoe.

Who is it for?
All gender identities are welcome to attend with the intention to celebrate all women’s voices. We encourage organisations to book a table and celebrate the women identifying people who work for them.
This event will have an alcohol-free bar.*

Tickets are $20 with sliding scale options from $5 to $30, there are also free tickets available for those who require financial support to attend.
