The last Sunday in June.
In New York, this is the annual date of NYC Pride, generally to roughly coincide with the anniversary of the Stonewall riot (44th this year), often cited as the beginning of the modern LGBTIQ rights movement.
The US Supreme Court also ruled that California’s Proposition 8 was unconstitutional, and just today, a federal appeals court also dissolved the stay meaning that marriages can be performed immediately.
With all this in mind, it’s a very special time trip edition of The Affair, where Bretts Schryver & Sweeting join me in a trip back to the 1995 NYC Pride Pier Dance.
