We open this episode of The Informer with the statement of solidarity read  yesterday at the Victorian State Library, where sexual and gender diverse Melbournians gathered under the banner ‘No Pride in Detention’ – calling on the government to bring Men detained on Manus island to safety.

We also speak to the New South Wales based health promotion organisation ACON about their new resource ‘Stronger Together’, that will help everyone within our communities in the lead up to, and after, the results of the marriage equality postal survey on 15 November

 

And we speak to community members in regional Victoria who are creating spaces for members of our communities to come together and thrive away from the pubs and clubs of the big smoke. What’s it like creating a space for LGBTIQ members of the community in regional spaces that may have just one, or sometimes no queer venues?
