How can get we a more accurate picture of Australia’s diverse gender and sexuality communities in the 2021 Census?

While great steps were taken in the 2016 Census to collect data in regard to diverse gender and sexuality in our communities, the results received did not reflect Australias DGS communities. Since the postal survey, openness discussing such things has changed, and Darcy Meeham continues our conversation with Caroline Deans, Director of the 2021 Census Content Review specifically in regards to the marginalized in our communities, and making sure they are counted for in the 2021 Census

Although the next census isn’t for 3 years, time is running out to get your submissions in, if you have an important question you think should be included on the next census, or if you would just like more information, you can find it at www.abs.gov.au.

There you’ll find summaries and links to previous Census data, details about the submission process.

This episode of The Informer aired on JOY 94.9 on 11th April 2018.
