This week, Ruby is joined by the incredible alternative process photographer Sophie Caligari and the amazing resident Triple Bi-Pass podcaster Louis!

Sophie Caligari is a Melbourne-based photographer specializing in 19th Century photographic and printing techniques. Her work explores themes of antiquity, memory, psychological construction, movement, human form as sculpture and the female gaze. Predominately capturing people and botanicals using a combination of antique methods and cutting edge studio lighting, Sophie’s work sits outside of a linear timeline. Exploring the relationship between photographic history and modern ideals, her work is said to transport the viewer to – place that is ‘enigmatic and present yet wistful and sentimental’.Louis studies Sex, Gender and Diversity at La Trobe university and is a queer advocate and activist, focusing mainly on queer theory and studies of masculinity.
We discuss queer representation throughout the 19th century and the ways in which it can be brought back through vintage arts and alternative processing, queer musicians and artists and some of the problems that are faced by many bisexual men. Hope you enjoy!
