Put me Down by The Cranberries. From their 1993 debut, Everybody else is doing it, so why can’t we?  Written by vocalist Dolores O’Riordan. They are from Limerick in Ireland and were originally known as The Cranberry Saw Us.

Down to Earth by Curiosity Killed the Cat. British band formed in 1984. This was their second single from Keep Your Distance, their debut album. Single was released in 1986; album in 87.

+Ford by Juned. Seattle lesbian band from the early 90s. This is from their self-titled album released in 1994.

+Johnny by Anti-scrunti Faction. Queercore group from Boulder, CO that only lasted a couple years, 1984-85. This is from their second EP, Damsels in Distress. Language warning.

+Monsters by Nervous Gender. Another Queercore group, this time from SF and featuring Phranc, a woman I’ve played any number of times here on TripleX…her classic ode to Martina Navratilova is my favourite. This is from their 1981 album, Music from Hell.

+Drag King by Sister George. British queercore band’s title track from their only album, released in 1994. Language warning.

Driver’s Seat by Sniff’n the Tears. 1978 song from their debut album, Fickle Heart. They were British.

Gold by John Stewart. 1979 track and biggest solo hit from this former member of the Kingston Trio and writer of Daydream Believer. He died in 2008 of a brain aneurysm not long after being diagnosed with Alzheimers.

Almost Paradise by Ann Wilson and Mike Reno. Heart & Loverboy lead singers come together for the Footloose love theme, 1984.

Two Princes by Spin Doctors. 1993 track from this NYC based band…been evaluated as both a Best of and Worst of the 90s songs.  What do you think?

No Rain by Blind Melon. Released in September 1992 as the second single from the band’s debut album self-titled album. They’re from the US.
