Playlists

Show 374

Well, did you Evah! by Iggy Pop & Debbie Harry. From 1990’s Red Hot & Blue.

+Don’t go breaking my heart by Elton John and Ru Paul. 1993 duet.

+I wonder Why by Melissa Ferrick. From her 1993 album, Massive Blur. Critics say it’s her best album. I certainly like this track better than the title track I played earlier this year.

+Forever for you by Sam Harris. From his 1986 album, Sam I am.

Good Name by William Onyeabor. Nigerian musician who was really prolific in the late 70s and 80s. This is the title track to his 1983 album.

Positivity by Prince. Request.

Gloria by Patti Smith. Request.

Adventures in Success by Will Powers. Will Powers was the stage name used by celebrity photographer Lynn Goldsmith when she created the self-help comedy music album Dancing for Mental Health in 1983. This track is from that album.

This World of Water by New Musik. From their 1980 debut album, From A to B. They were English and active from 1977 to 82.

Aussies – death theme for my best friend’s mother-in-law whose funeral was this past week

*Harness Up by Died Pretty. The second single from Died Pretty’s 1993 album “Trace”.

*The Carnival is Over by Dead Can Dance. Taken from their 1994 album, ‘Into The Labyrinth’.

*All the things You Do by The Headstones. Underground band from Brisbane that moved to Sydney to try to make it big…they didn’t. Not to be confused with the more prolific Canadian band with the same name.

*Child Molester by The Quick and the Dead. Perth punk band that got a lot of bad press for their Nazi imagery and the violence that erupted at some shows. This is from their 7″ EP “Another Violent Night” self-released by the band in 1981.

*Take a Long Line by The Angels. From their 1978 album Face to Face.  Despite the pub popularity of Am I Ever Going to See Your Face Again, this was their first hit single.  As a result of its success, they supported David Bowie on his first tour of Oz.

*Communion by Armoured Angel. Live recording from Brisbane in 1991.

A Long Time by John Foxx. From his first solo album after leaving Ultravox, Metamatic, released in 1980.

Lawnchairs by Our Daughter’s Wedding. This was their biggest hit, released in 1981. They were from NY. The track is also on the soundtrack to the 2008 film, The Graduates.

Images of Heaven by Peter Godwin. Title track to his 1982 solo album. Also his second solo single after leaving Metro.

Watching Their Eyes by Kissing the Pink. Club mix from 1983. Also on their first album, Naked, released the same year. They were English.

My Perfect Lover by Charlie. Charlie was a British rock band that was formed in 1971 by singer/songwriter Terry Thomas. This was from 1981.

Living on the Ceiling by Blancmange. From the soundtrack to the 1982 film Electric Dreams.

Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Richie. After living on the ceiling, I had to play this classic. Title track to his 1986 album.
