What Pride Means Today

As the curtain comes down on Melbourne’s annual celebration of Pride, the Midsumma festival, and goes up to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras – it’s a good time to dissect what Pride today means. Is it a protest, a victory dance over past wrongs, a corporate marketing platform, or just a big party? And how does it change with a world view? The expression of queer Pride differs all over the world and is certainly not always a party.

In this podcast, we hear from international LGBT advocate organisation, Out Right International, on their third annual report on Pride around the world. We will hear from Noel Campbell from the Equality For All Foundation in Jamaica, Nadine Smith who is the Executive Director of Equality Florida, and more.
