(Marky Mark vs Nick Jonas)

Welcome to the Touch Of Pink blog page. Lots of new tracks tonight and all quite exceptional. I love Kylie Minogue’s version of Bettte Davis Eyes; I’m so looking forward to Cheryl (Cole’s) new album Only Human (yes, the deluxe box is on order); I’m just in heaven with Aretha’s new single and forthcoming album, she is my second favourite female singer (after Dusty Springfield, of course); it’s so good to have Holly Johnson around too with his new album Europa, which is a lovely listen; and a couple of hunks tonight courtesy of Nick Jonas and M Pokara (google them); and that little spunk bubble Olly Murs has a new single and his 4th album coming soon.

My Single Of The Week is ‘On Danse” by M Pokara.  Firstly, he’s gorgeous, the song is a very catchy slow burn, he’s French and he sings in French. What more does this man have to do to impress you? Check out the video. Did I mention that he’s French?

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a bakers dozen of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have I seen lately?

Films: ‘Advanced Style’ and ‘Before You Know It’. Two wonderful documentaries about two groups of amazing seniors.

‘Advanced Style’ followed the clothing styles of 7 wonderful New York women, ranging in age from mid 60’s to mid 90’s. All still had very active lives and all loved fashion. The film show how these women coped with againg but they all did it with a certain style, flair, whatever.

‘Before You Know It’ followed the lives of 3 gay American men, ranging in age from 66 to 70 something. One owned a drag bar (like DT’s), another did volunteer work for gay seniors, and the other was retired and committed to his transvestitism. The film followed their lives as they spoke about what kept them going and how they coped with aging. They all had some interesting things to say about live and ageing.

They made a great viewing double feature and should be compulsory viewing for all seniors and those approaching their senior years. It can be such a wonderful and rewarding time of your life if you put some thought and effort into it.
