Been There Done That

13 May 2015

Vols, Topp Twins, J.Nestle, A.Maupin, A.Ball, $1coin, Flying docs

Community, Gay, History, Icons, Lesbian

We celebrate National Volunteers Week, birthdays of the gay Topp Twins, and lesbian herstorian Joan Nestle, and we remember the death of local icon and gay dance promoter Jan Hillier (of Pokies & Penny’s fame 1980s).

We reflect upon the depiction of gay life by gay authors Armistead Maupin and Alan Ball.

We note the arrival and demise of local currency, and the role of the Royal Flying Doctor services established on 15 May 1928. Plus some trivia and mirth.
