This week we commemorate Cilla Black, UK pop star and TV Entertainer, who died on Saturday 1/8/2015.

We recall the horrors of war with the dropping of the first atomic bomb some 70 years ago, and the threat which rogue states currently threaten world peace.

In the aftermath of ‘chopper-gate’ scandal, we look at the origin of ’-gate’ events, starting with US President Richard Nixon who resigned on 9/8/1974 following the break-in to the Watergate complex to steal political secrets.

We remember the life and works of Randy Shilts, US author and gay activist, born 8/8/1951; Tyra Hunter US transsexual denied medical assistance & died 7/8/1995; Alec Guinness , English Actor most famous for playing ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ died 5/8/2000 and Australian pop-singer Vanessa Amorosi born 8/8/1981.
