GLBTI ASYLUM SEEKERS: There has been a lot of coverage of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s new ‘hard-line stance’ on asylum seeker boat arrivals, but very little has been said about the effect this decision will have on gay, lesbian and bisexual asylum seekers who will now be sent to Papua New Guinea under the new arrangement. As Amnesty International spokesperson Senthorun Raj explains, Papua New Guinea criminalises homosexuality with imprisonment for up to 14 years.

BI-PHOBIA: A new study from the Pew Research Institute in the United States has found up to 40% of the GLBTI community is bisexual, but most choose to identify as gay or straight to avoid the risk of biphobia. We speak to Rebecca Dominguez from the Bi Alliance about the discrimination bi- people experience not only from straight identifying people, but also from within the GLBTI communities.
