Girls On Film

Jim and James talk at length with Victoria’s first Gender and Sexuality Commissioner Rowena Allen, who is leading the policy changes promised by the Andrews Labour Government in Victoria at the last election.

We get an idea of her as a person; her journey from a little girl in Glen Waverly to a baby dyke trying to effect social change leading Uniting Care in Shepparton to current appointment as a self-identifying Gender Diverse Commissioner.

Rowena talks of her plans to continue promoting reform.  She also promised to come back to talk some more when she felt her achievements warranted it.  Personally we felt getting here and surviving for a few months is a remarkable achievement.

The team also speak briefly with our own Sonja Hammer of Sci Fi & Squeam fame about her role as a GOFF mother for the upcoming Girls On Film Festival that is on next weekend.

Aired on 19th of October, 2015.
