anechoic
adjective: anechoic

  1. free from echo.
    “an anechoic chamber”

Yes, we had to look up the definition of the title of the latest single from Australian out-and-proud music legend Paul Mac. ‘Anechoic [Everybody’s Singing]’ with vocals from Dappled Cities’ Tim Derricourt is certainly not your run-of-the-mill dance or pop song. It may surprise you, but it’s certainly worth giving a number of listens – like us, you will be hooked.

Up-and-coming Sydney-based dance trio RÜFÜS have had lots of attention in the past year, but ‘You Were Right’ has debuted this week in the charts at no. 22. This makes it their most successful release yet and brings a first-time addition to JOY playlists. We expect it to head straight to the top of the charts.

‘I Can’t Lose’ from Mark Ronson has been at radio for over a month, but with very little take-up. It seems that no-one can get past the monster hit ‘Uptown Funk’. A new remix from Lindstrøm has shortened and funked up ‘I Can’t Lose’ just enough to get it over the line for us as a worthy successor.

The American dance-pop diva Demi Lovato, who is now best known for her association with the movie Frozen and it’s hit song ‘Let It Go’, has gone all out to re-establish her dance credentials. ‘Cool for the Summer’ is a bangin’ assault on the ears in the style of Zedd, Calvin Harris et al. This will be massive.

The UK X Factor 2006 winner, Leona Lewis, has moved on from Simon Cowell’s record company (SYCO/SONY). She has a fresh and definitely more pop-oriented outlook than ever before with her first single, ‘Fire Under My Feet’, on her new label, Island Records.

Set your alarm and tune into Rochén and Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
