Want more pep in your step? Make sure you keep JOY turned on all day for Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix.

Pop queen Ariana Grande is getting ready to release her fourth album, but in the meantime she’s dropped a track that’s got the world going crazy. ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ has Ariana turning up the 90s pop in a song that we think you’ll want to sing along to. Here’s hoping the rest of the album is as good as its lead single.

A JOY favourite has gone disco and we’re feeling it. Samantha Jade has just released her ode to the 70s, and the album’s title track will get you jiving along. The dance-floor remix of ‘Best of My Love’ has got Sammi Jade written all over it, from its irresistibly catchy bridge to the pumping back beat. It may have originally been huge back in 1977 thanks to The Emotions, but Samantha has made it all her own. We dare you not to sing along.

Brisbane boy Hobart Curtis first hit the JOY mix with ‘New Squeeze (Won’t Leave)’ back in December and he’s back with a piece of synth-pop delight. ‘Model’ is a perfect example of how a deep story about a relationship can intertwine with smooth synths to create an attention-grabbing punch of pop.

Back in 2002, your music director was just starting uni and enjoying the sounds of Britney, *NSYNC and Nelly in Commercial Road’s many bars and clubs. Sixteen years later, British singer Anne-Marie has used some of our favourite lyrics from the noughties for a musical version of #TBT. It will only take a couple of listens before you know the chorus to ‘2002’ word for word. What memories will it bring back for you?

The world’s biggest singing competition is nearly upon us, and two Eurovision entries have landed in JOY’s daytime mix. FYR Macedonia are sending popular sometimes-trio-but-generally-duo Eye Cue with their very catchy ‘Lost & Found’. It does combine approximately six songs into one, but just as the JOYEurovision team suggested, we all like value for money. Cyprus have cashed in on Greece’s unwillingness to choose Eleni Foureira by claiming her for a fierce thumper. ‘Fuego’ combines Greek and Latin sounds for a track that wouldn’t sound out-of-place on a Melbourne dance floor. Apparently flying pelicans are a big thing in Cyprus, as are bananas and pineapples. Don’t worry – we’re just as confused as you are!
