We might be close to wrapping up 2018, but we’re nowhere near ready to wrap up adding new music to Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix.

Swedish duo NOTD (that’s Noted, for those playing at home) have had a massive year, releasing the hits Been There Done That and I Wanna Know. They’re back with your summer banger and have brought bi German DJ-producer Felix Jaehn along for the ride. They feature British singer Georgia Ku and LA-based trio Captain Cuts in ‘So Close’, with a thumping beat and memorable melody made for dancing to. Check out the young lovers in the video who can’t help busting some moves in the street.

We’re big fans of Years & Years at JOY, so our ears are at the ready when they drop something new. The British band, fronted by out-and-proud Olly Alexander, have teamed up with English DJ, producer and songwriter Timucin Lam, aka Jax Jones. Jones has made a name for himself with his familiar Whatcha gonna do? opening in massive hits such as Ring Ring, Breathe, and You Don’t Know Me. ‘Play’ is the sixth single from his debut EP, Snacks, and it continues to build on the successes he has had in the dance-pop scene. If you’ve ever wondered what Olly would look like as an animated Lego character, the video will be right up your alley.

Jess Glynne doesn’t like to label her sexuality, but we’ll happily label her a singing superstar. The British singer-songwriter will be in town in February for her Always In Between Tour, but in the meantime, she’s taking her home country by storm with a remix of her latest single. ‘Thursday’ has been given a shake-up by Dutch producer Jack Wins, sending it to #2 on the UK chart. We’re pleased about the remix and we think you will be too.

You know something is going to be big when it trends on Twitter within minutes. British DJ-producer Mark Ronson has stepped away from Silk City for a moment to deliver the lead single from his forthcoming album. ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart’ sees the Grammy-winning artist mix country and dance with the help of Miley Cyrus, who’s peachy-keen to run away from leisurely escape the cops. Give this one a few listens – we reckon you’ll be hearting it soon.

This year has been rewarding for Aussie producer Mark Landon. Last week, M-Phazes won an ARIA Award for his production of Amy Shark’s ‘I Said Hi’. This week, he released ‘When We Were Young’, featuring the vocals of Luke Steele, who you might know as the lead singer of Empire of the Sun. This track is dripping with summer vibes and is made for a session around the pool.

Sydnee Carter landed on our TV screens in 2014 when, as a 15-year-old singer, she ended up in the final 12 of the Australian X Factor. The Perth native has grown up and become a multi-award-winning songwriter. Her latest single, ‘Give It All Away’, sees a wild combo of guitar, drums and Sydnee’s powerful voice taking you on a journey of love. Get ready to be taken by the song’s hook and to fall in love with Sydnee.
