Suzanne Phoenix is a Naarm/Melbourne queer photographer, artist, zine and bookmaker
based in the Yarra Valley. Photos punctuate her life through portraits, performance, music,
the street, and daily life.

Suzanne has been exhibiting since 2013 and won the 2015 Upper Yarra Visage
Photographic Portrait Prize 2015, received an Honourable Mention in 2018 Picturing
Footscray, selected twice as a finalist in the National Photographic Portrait Prize in 2021 and
received an honourable mention in Martin Kantor Portrait Prize 2021. Suzanne has a
particular interest in documenting subcultures from queer communities to unique
Australian events like national taxidermy championships. Suzanne’s mission is to document
positive, powerful images of people, particularly queer cis and trans women and gender fluid
people and help challenge the normal paradigm.
