Caleb Darwent and Nicholas Gray (better known as creative duo, Darwent & Gray) join us to discuss The Rest is Drag, showing at the Melbourne Fringe. The show is about Michael and Claire, a drag queen/drag king double act, best friends, and in monogamous gay relationships. However, the pair suddenly find themselves falling in love, and are forced to reassess everything they thought they knew about themselves. Caleb and Nicholas talk about the creative process, the musical content and the desire to present drag different to that seen in the media (i.e. Ru Paul’s Drag Race). We are also treated to a live performance of a song from the show, Every Part of Me (performed by Jess Cook whose character Davina is struggling to deal with her new-found polyamorous relationship after her partner Clair takes up with Michael.
Musically in this episode, we feature Leslie Odom Jr., Barbra Streisand with Anne Hathaway and Daisy Ridley, and music from the musicals: Fun Home, In The Heights and Waitress.
