Sorrento Moon
Anja Nissen

Take That

Kicking off our new music this week is the biggest duet we’ve heard since… well … since Dannii and Kylie. Tina Arena’s brand new two disc release Greatest Hits and Interpretations album features a number of reworks and collaborations of some of Tina’s biggest songs. We featured ‘Chains’ with Jessica Mauboy and The Veronicas last year and now we have the Young Talent Time cohorts, Tina Arena and Dannii Minogue, working together for the first time in 40 years to produce a magnificent 2017 update of Tina’s 1995 #7 hit ‘Sorrento Moon’.

Australian singer-songwriter Anja Nissen (winner of Australia’s The Voice in 2014) looked to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016 but didn’t win the selection contest. Anja tried again this year with a song she co-wrote and which was produced by Melbourne’s own MSquared productions. This time she is through and will officially represent Denmark in May with ‘Where I Am’. The original is a great track, as is the official remix from UK production house 7th Heaven.  You’ll be hearing both versions at different times of the day.

Australian independent 24-year-old singer-songwriter Tom Jay Williams was the youngest ever contestant to make the top ten of Australian idol at the age of 16 and he subsequently went on to be a part of Adelaide trio At Sunset from 2012 until 2016. Tom has been traveling the world working with many artists and producers and the quality of his debut solo single, ‘Closure’, is a testament to his hard work.

British pop trio Take That released their eighth studio album a couple of weeks ago in the UK where it debuted at #2 on their charts. The lead single, ‘Giants’, reached #13 in the UK in February. It’s no secret Take That are long term favourites at JOY and ‘Giants’ certainly lives up to our expectations as another slice of exceptional pop.

Set your alarm and tune into Michael on the Six at Six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
