Scotland’s favourite ex-undie-modelling DJ has climbed off the Funk Wav bus and gone somewhere new. Calvin Harris has teamed up with English singer Dua Lipa to drop the biggest track of the week. ‘One Kiss’ is being hailed as the song of the (northern) summer and we can’t disagree. It pumps, it grinds and it’s sure to get you on your feet.
Of course you know that Eurovision is on its way, so it would be criminal for our music director not to add some of this year’s entries to your weekday listening. SuRie was chosen by the British public to head to Lisbon with her single ‘Storm’. The original is quite an effort on its own, but the amazing 7th Heaven have put their spin on it to create a total thumper. We think you’ll be dancing along.
American out-and-proud singer and dancer Luis Egurrola has been performing since the age of 16, having been the coach of the Phoenix Mercury Hip Hop Squad and choreographed for a number of other NBA cheerleading teams. Taking his nickname Weezy, he’s released his debut single via out-and-proud producer Mark Picchiotti’s label. ‘Yeah Yeah Love’ is reminiscent of 90s vocal house and is a perfect fit for our weekday sound.
It’s sometimes good to have famous friends. Faisal Ben Said aka Fais and Dutch DJ Afrojack are childhood friends who worked together for the first time in 2016 to release their European hit Hey. Fais is back with his fourth single, ‘Know You Better’, which is currently zooming up the Dutch radio airplay charts. We think you’ll be enjoying it after a few listens and have a hard time getting the chorus out of your head.
