Does Australia need a bit of tough love?

The Abbott Government’s first budget is one of Australia’s harshest on record, with cuts affecting just about every Australian. The Prime Minister argues that, after the spending of the previous Labor governments, some tough love is the only forward if Australia is to continue to enjoy one of the world’s most robust economies.

However, there are many on the other side of the Prime Minister’s pitch, including Fairfax business writer Adele Ferguson. Joining Macca and Saturday Magazine’s producer Ben Rylan, Adele gives her take on whether Australia really is in desperate need of the kind of budget the Abbott Government is putting forward.
