In the studio we have numerous awesome guests including Games developers Trent Kusters from League of Geeks returning to chat to us about the budget cuts in Oz games development that happened last week….along with on the phone we have Morgan Jaffit another games developer from Defiant Development based in Brisbane, Queensland also adding his expertise and views on the gametastrophe with the funding cuts to games in Australia.

What does this mean to Oz developers ? Who is affected? What of the future?

‘The AIGF was a $20 million fund set up last year to assist developers within the Australian games industry. In September, it backed 21 independent projects to the tune of $2.6 million. By ending the program as of July 1, the Australian government expects to achieve savings of $10 million.’

‘Games developed under the program included 3 Sprockets’ Steam Early Access title Fight the Dragon, Uppercut Games’ iOS effort Epoch 2, and Flat Earth Games’ Towncraft, and Armello ‘

The games industry last year made $70 billion , in Oz it is estimated to be over $300 million for the Oz economy…’
