Political Cartoons and Plebiscite Talks w Terri Butler

Talks between Labor’s Mark Dreyfus and Terri Butler and the Coalition’s George Brandis and Scott Ryan about a possible plebiscite compromise broke down quickly today, with both sides blaming each other for the outcome.

Terri Butler joined us to explain what went on behind closed doors, and what the future of same-sex marriage may be.

Bill Leak was not interested in commenting on the cartoon published in The Australian this Wednesday, political cartoonist Peter Nicholson joined us for insight on the role of political cartoons in Australia.

Deakin University is hosting discussion panels this week on Queer Generations as part of a research project into the experiences of queer people growing up in the 70s and the 90s.
