This week we farewell Lisa Marie Presley, Jeff Beck and Robbie Backman and salute two wonderful singers Dolly Parton and Normie Rowe under the banner LET’S REMEMBER.
Dolly Parton is an American singer-songwriter, actress, philanthropist and businesswoman. Dolly made her album debut in 1967 with Hello, I’m Dolly and a series of duet albums with Porter Wagoner. With a career spanning over 50 years, Dolly has been described as a “country music legend” and has sold more than 100 million records making her one of the best-selling female artists of all time. She has had 25 singles reach # 1 on Billboard’s country music charts, 44 Top10 country albums, 12 Grammys and has composed over 3,000 songs,
Norman (Normie) Rowe AM is an Australian singer and songwriter of pop music and an actor of theatre and soap opera. As a singer he was credited for his edgy tenor voice and dynamic stage presence. Backed by his band, The Playboys, Normie became the most popular solo performer of the mid 1960s and his double-sided hit Que Sera Sera / Shakin’ All Over was one of the most successful Australian singles of the 1960s. Between 1965 and 1967 Normie was Australia’s most popular male star but his career was cut short when he was drafted for National Service in late 1967.
