Celebrate International Women’s Day with JOY 94.9

Friday March 8 is International Women’s Day, and JOY is celebrating!
On JOY Breakfast from 7:00am, Rach Morrison will be joined by some of your favourite JOY women, including regular JOY favourite Michelle Sheppard, centering conversations around women, and discussing this year’s theme for International Women’s Day, Inspire Inclusion.

Michelle Sheppard aboard the Pride Tram.
Across the day, we’ll have a rolling roster of women on air playing music exclusively by women. We’ll be championing women’s music, from the biggest names in music to local, independent artists, all day long.
Then from 4:00pm, join Bent Transport, LGBTIQA+ women and those perceived as women from across the transport industry for a live panel discussion celebrating this year’s theme, Inspire Inclusion.
Bent Transport is an initiative led by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) that brings together Victoria’s Transport and Planning Infrastructure industry partners to improve LGBTIQA+ diversity, inclusion, and equality across the sector.
Michelle Sheppard, “Mama Mish”, returns to host the event, with featured storytellers Erin McKenna and Tania Gray sharing their experiences and stories of success, all broadcasting live from the Victorian Pride Centre.

The much-loved Friday Night Live with David and Sue will be reflecting the day by taking your requests for women artists. FNL is always highly interactive, and this episode will be no exception!
Then, from 8:00pm, Turn The Beat Around will be celebrating one of music’s most iconic women, Cher, by counting down your favourite Cher songs. Drop your requests on the Turn The Beat Around Instagram account, and tune in to hear the whole countdown!
Join JOY this Friday to celebrate International Women’s Day 2024.
Tune in to JOY 94.9 on FM or DAB+ radio, stream live online here, or listen in through apps including iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and the JOY App on iOS.
Update, 7 Mar 2024, 8:36am: an earlier version of this article announced that Rebeckah Loveday would be co-hosting JOY Breakfast. Unfortunately, due to illness, Rebeckah will be unable to join us. We wish her a speedy recovery!
