JOY 94.9 Unveils Exciting New Season 2 Lineup: Fresh Shows, Familiar Voices, and Unmissable Stories
JOY 94.9 is thrilled to announce the launch of its brand-new Season 2 schedule, running from July 7 to December 7, 2025.
With four brand new shows and the return of two beloved favourites, Season 2 is set to deliver even more diverse voices, vibrant stories, and passionate presenters to Australia’s LGBTQIA+ airwaves.
Spotlight on Diversity and Community
Season 2’s lineup reflects JOY’s unwavering commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices and providing a platform for important conversations. Highlights include:
The Gender Agenda – Tuesdays, 7pm
Back by popular demand, The Gender Agenda returns to champion our trans and gender diverse (TGD) communities. With a mix of returning and new presenters, the show is more vital than ever, offering a safe space for TGD stories and perspectives at a time when global conversations about gender inclusivity are more urgent than ever.
Still Here, Still Queer – Sundays, 6pm
Brand new to JOY, Still Here, Still Queer celebrates our elderly and aging LGBTQIA+ community. Veteran JOY presenters Henry Rocek, Pete Holmes, and Gillian Bartlett promise a blend of heartfelt conversations and infectious fun, shining a light on the experiences and wisdom of our older generations.
Friends of Dorothy – Sundays, 10pm
Step back in time with Friends of Dorothy, a sitcom radio play set 40 years ago in the heart of Queertopia. Follow Mikey and Steph as they attempt to create an all ‘Friends of Dorothy’ household, only to discover the hilarity and chaos that ensues when you open your doors to the unexpected. Tune in for a nostalgic and side-splitting journey through queer history.
LIT CRIT CHICK – JOY Podcast Exclusive
Literature meets life on LIT CRIT CHICK, a podcast where host Quinn invites influential guests to discuss the media that has shaped them. Rather than talking about themselves, guests reveal their passions through the stories, books, and films they love. Expect surprising insights and deep dives into the media that matters most to our community.
History Repeating – Wednesdays, 10pm
JOY’s own Podcast Coordinator, Clayton, delves into the station’s rich 32-year archive to bring back fascinating interviews, powerful discussions, and memorable moments. History Repeating is your chance to revisit and celebrate the voices and stories that have shaped JOY’s legacy.
Hot Bread – Saturdays, 7pm
Saturday nights just got sparklier! Hot Bread returns with host Little Jase spinning the tunes and bringing the party to life, making JOY the place to be every weekend.
Tune In and Celebrate
“With Season 2, we’re not just launching shows – we’re launching conversations, connections, and community,” says Elliot Attard, JOY’s Production and Content Manager. “We’re proud to showcase such a diverse range of programs and presenters who reflect the vibrancy and resilience of our listeners.”
Don’t miss the Season 2 launch from July 7. Tune in via 94.9FM, DAB+, or stream online at joy.org.au. For more information and the full schedule, visit joy.org.au.
