With so much new music, why listen to any other radio station?

Lesbian singer-songwriter Romy is best known as the frontwoman of indie pop band The xx. The Brit has gone solo and ‘Lifetime’ is her debut. She wants you to celebrate the moment, and this song will certainly help you do so.

Melbourne-based gay singer-songwriter-producer ALIUS continues to roll out the tunes after a songwriting stint in Sweden. Featuring the vocals of Swedish singer CILVR, ‘Almost There’ is a bright piece of pop that is perfect to bop to. You loved it after its world premiere on The Sound of Now, so it’s now in the mix.

Melbourne-based producer Carda has spent some time of late working with big names in LA. ‘Sacrifices’ is an outcome of all this collaboration. It has a touch of trop house and a touch of EDM, and is made for the current musical landscape – especially with American singer Jordan Powers lending her voice to the song.

‘Hot Stuff’ was #1 in Australia in 1979 and Donna Summer won a Grammy for it. Norwegian producer Kygo has continued his series of reworked classics to put a 2020 shine on this disco banger. It was already a solid song, but this gives it a touch of today.

English singer-songwriter Ella Henderson has released a belter with the help of a few big names. ‘Dream on Me’ was co-written with out-and-proud MNEK and American singer Wrable, and has been brought to the dance floor thanks to dance music legend Roger Sanchez. Listen out for a nod to Roger’s 2001 Australian #20 hit ‘Another Chance’, too.

Mario Winan promised big things when he released his debut single in 2004. ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ peaked at #2 on the Australian chart and we were hopeful for more great tunes. Sadly, we never got them, and Mario is now firmly placed in the one-hit wonder list. French-Senegalese duo Silience have turned his classic into a bop for the current times. With it already taking France and the UK by storm, we reckon it won’t be long until Australia gives a thumbs-up.

Harper Finn has been surrounded by music since he was a little child. While studying History and Politics at the University of Auckland, the New Zealand singer-songwriter took the step towards making music for a living. ‘Dance Away These Days’ is his latest, and it urges us to disconnect from the world and lose ourselves in the music. With a video that channels all of Melbourne’s COVID moods, we reckon it’ll become a favourite. Just make sure you listen all the way through!

It’s taken until October for American singer-songwriter Julia Michaels to release her first solo track for the year, but it’s been worth the wait. ‘Lie Like This’ is a bop about giving in to a new, beautiful love and has Julia’s songwriting fingerprints all over it. We think you’ll be humming along in no time.
