Pride March

Latest Update For Marchers (4:40pm Sat Feb 3)

The Weather

We have all been keeping an eye at the temperature for the March. At our most recent briefing meeting with Midsumma, we learnt that they will be dramatically increasing the number of water stations in the Marshalling area.

The hour by hour forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology for St Kilda is :

Our closeness to the beach helps with the temperature feeling lower that what it actually is.

We expect to be marching sometime in the yellow highlighted area – closer to 11am. Remember to bring sunscreen as the UV levels will be high. If you do forget, we will have some with us.

If you can, bring a face cloth or small towel with you that you can pour water onto and use to cool your head/shoulders.

March Order

We are in wave E at the head of the queue. We will be marching after the Youth, Schools and Access Inclusion groups. At the front of the Queer Community Groups and Organisations should see us  on the move somewhere between 11:30 and 12noon. Well before the hottest part of the day.

Midsumma have stipulated that we should be in position in the marshalling area by 9:30am.

Em Ireland will be taking us through a few dance steps that we can follow when we are marching. They won’t be difficult!

Wave to the camera

This year’s Pride March will be broadcast on JOY 94.9 on FM, DAB+ and Internet Radio.

We will also be live-streaming the march so your friends and family can get a birds eye view.

Remember, when you get to the Victorian Pride Centre, make sure you wave at the camera’s that will be located on the right most pillar of the balcony.

Covered in reflective foil to minimise heat buildup, they do look suspiciously like red light camera’s
