What is a Community Service Announcement (CSA)?
A Community Service Announcement (CSA) is a short, professionally produced audio message that promotes a community service or program. On community radio, CSAs are a vital tool for not-for-profits to reach broad and diverse audiences, helping to inform, educate, and inspire action.
If your organisation were to purchase a comparable sponsorship campaign on JOY, the value of this level of exposure and airtime would be at least $20,000 over six months.
How the JOY CSA Program Works
- Six-Month Broadcast Cycle: Each CSA is scheduled for a six-month period, ensuring sustained exposure.
- • Multiple Campaigns: Organisations may request multiple CSAs if they have distinct programs, services, or brands.
- Production Fee: A one-time production fee of up to $250 + GST applies per CSA. This covers professional scriptwriting, voiceover, and audio production.
- Renewal: CSAs are renewed every six months, allowing you to refresh your message and maintain relevance.
Who Can Apply?
The CSA program is designed for LGBTQIA+ owned organisations and organisations whose work directly benefits the LGBTQIA+ community. We welcome applications from:
- Registered not-for-profit organisations
- Community groups and associations
- Charitable trusts and foundations
- Social enterprises with a community focus
JOY is committed to uplifting and supporting the organisations that strengthen, represent, and serve the LGBTQIA+ community.
If your organisation falls outside the above guidelines but you still want your message heard on JOY, we offer discounted not-for-profit promotion packages. This is a great way to promote your cause while also financially supporting the work that JOY does for our community. Please contact us to discuss the options available.

Please note: To ensure alignment with our values and community focus, JOY will review all applications and reserves the right to make the final decision on which organisations receive a Community Service Announcement.
