JOY 94.9 supports NAIDOC Week
JOY 94.9 respectfully acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the people of the Kulin Nation.
For the Wurundjeri, Boonerwrung, Taungurong, Djajawurrung and the Wathaurung groups, Melbourne has always been an important meeting place for events of social, educational, sporting and cultural significance.
JOY 94.9 wishes to acknowledge and support NAIDOC week. JOY 94.9 endeavours to broadcast and share stories that have importance and relevance to the LGBTIQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself.
