Studio 4 update: construction complete!

In late March 2012, JOY 94.9 hosted an on-air and online ‘Tech Drive’ fundraiser to update and upgrade the audio production studio aka Studio 4. Studio 4 is an important and integral part of JOY’s daily operations and helps ensure the station can continue to provide the production services for JOY’s extensive free CSA program as well as enable us to continue producing quality produced content for JOY sponsors, which greatly contributes financially to keeping the station on air.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, supporters and listeners we raised $13,000 in 7 days, a phenomenal result. Then in July 2012, JOY applied for a general station grant through the Community Broadcasting Foundation to pay for a special audio production package valued at $10,000. In November we were notified we had been successful, and received the equipment at the end of 2012. Since then we’ve been working with various contractors and suppliers to ensure the new fit-out/upgrade is exactly what JOY needs. The final design and budget were signed off in July and construction is to begin this week, so keep checking back at the JOY website for more updates and stay tuned for the grand reveal in early September!

Update: August 27

Today we found ourselves one step closer to the completion of studio 4. With thanks to JOY sponsor Blunt’s our power outlets were installed with efficiency and ease, whilst our handy man came along with our fabulous new sound buffers to keep recording quality to the best possible level. JOY blue and pink, how very appropriate. Check out the video and gallery below for ongoing updates.

Update: September 3

Construction on studio 4 is complete! The equipment is now in and with only a few small software and technical upgrades required, we are near the finish line with this project. A big thank you to the entire JOY Operations team for their assistance in making this happen and to the JOY volunteers, members and patrons for your support.
