The 3rd annual Northside Bizarre
Help raise much-needed money for two of Melbourne’s very important organisations: The David Williams Fund & JOY 94.9. Northside Bizarre is an annual fundraising event that includes a BBQ, performances and the most important part of the day: the fundraising auction.

Each year the event is hosted by the Laird Hotel, who put much time and effort into the day. This event just wouldn’t happen without their support. The Laird Hotel will be transformed into an auction house where everyone from the diverse GLBTIQ communities is welcome (18+ of course!).

Hailing originally from Lyon, France, Dito Kadum (aka Dove Kador) moved to Paris to study Art History. Inspired by the work of others, Kadum began creating his own unique and eclectic pieces. Today, Kadum continues to experiment in a range of digital media including, though not limited to sound and video design , digital drawing and image manipulation. In his most recent work, Kadum explores the twin phenomenon as a pseudo erotic metaphor of the cosmogony (creation of the universe).
Discussing his latest instalments, Kadum states “I just take simple photos of people and transform them into something else. It is as if I can discover their real identity; what they try to hide from society”.

The David Williams Fund
The David Williams Fund was established in 1987 to provide emergency financial assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who are experiencing financial hardship. For hundreds of PLWHA living below the poverty line this fund is their lifeline. Not only does it assist with basic essentials such as food, shelter and utilities but it also strives to assist with items that enhance life quality in a way that most people take for granted. For example, assistance with the purchase of a video or TV has greatly improved the day-to-day enjoyment of people who are too sick to leave their house. Assistance with re-training has enabled people to return to the workforce, increasing self-esteem and confidence. Assistance with burial costs has allowed people to maintain a sense of dignity while burying the ones they love. Contributing to the purchase of a fridge has prevented people from having to live out of an esky and compromising their health. None of this would have been possible without the compassionate support from all the people who have so generously contributed to the fund over the years.
The David Williams Fund provides financial assistance, financial advice and support for returning to study. Recently the focus of the David Williams Fund has changed from being purely a “hand out” based program to a “hand up” program that addresses people’s needs holistically. Most of our funds come directly from MAC cosmetics through the sales of Viva Glam, but your help is also needed!
