Live, Loud and Proud for AIDS 2014

JOY 94.9 proudly presents ´Live, Loud and Proud´ for AIDS 2014, the 20th International AIDS Conference.

AIDS 2014 is the largest medical conference ever to be held in Australia and with more than 25,000 international delegates and 2,500 international journalists expected to attend, it is the single most widely covered health event in the world.

JOY 94.9, Australia’s first and only LGBTIQ community radio station, will be broadcasting live from the Global Village at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre during the conference from Sunday July 20 to Friday July 25.

Over 6 days, JOY 94.9 will feature interviews, news, live music, community activities, conference updates and more from the Global Village to our diverse audience of 329,000+ monthly listeners and more online through a dedicated website that will host podcasts, videos and more.

Featuring medical updates from the conferences and plenaries, JOY 94.9 will also cover elements of the cultural program and events all around Melbourne as well as interviewing international delegates and local experts. JOY´s broadcast area will also combine with a community engagement space for attendees to find out more about the station and the local LGBTIQ community.

JOY 94.9’s dedicated volunteer team will ensure the broadcast uplifts, informs and empowers through entertaining content, breaking news interviews and moving stories locally, nationally and globally. The station will also be honouring it’s history in line with it’s launch on World AIDS Day in 1993 and following on from 2013’s very successful World AIDS Day Worldwide 24 hour audio and video simulcast.

Proudly supported by the Community Broadcasting Foundation, JOY 94.9’s ‘Live, Loud and Proud’ broadcast from AIDS 2014 will be a reflective look to assess where the global community is at with HIV/AIDS, evaluate recent scientific developments and lessons learnt, and collectively chart a course forward.
