Update from our CEO
Summer in Melbourne is always fun, but summer for JOY is frenetic. From January – March you will see the JOY team out and about at festivals and events and most importantly – broadcasting live. Four outside broadcasts across five massive events. From Mardi Gras, to Chill Out, Melbourne Queer Film Festival to La Trobe University Pride Celebrations and Women’s AFL – we will be bringing you the best of our diverse community.
Now in our 24th year, we have a lot planned for 2017. We will continue to bring you the most uplifting music, news and current affairs for the LGBTI and allied communities and the most diverse, entertaining and informative programming you can find anywhere. Lead by our new Program Director Chris Tait – we will be refining our programming excellence and looking to diversify the voices and stories you hear on JOY even further.
Our volunteers are our life-blood and in 2017 – the volunteer experience at JOY is set to reach new heights, with a re-vamped induction program and even more roles being added to the already extensive list of positions – now is the perfect time to connect with us and become part of our team.
As always – don’t forget that JOY exists both for you and because of you. For 23 years we have been privileged to be able to produce radio due to the incredible generosity of our members, donors and supporters. Now more than ever – we need JOY. Nowhere else in Australia can you access LGBTI content 24 hours a day. I encourage you all to listen to a new show or podcast, to check us out on social media and get involved, send your favourite show a message or tell a friend about us. We have so much left to accomplish – be part of the JOY.
