Podcasting Update – August
If you haven’t heard, Victoria Police LGBTI Liaison Officers and some of JOYs most informative and entertaining presenters have got together to bring you the Vic Police GLLO Show, exclusive to JOY podcasts.
Formerly the Victoria Police Community Hour, it started as a live one-hour program on JOY in 2009 and ran until 2012. Now it has come back as a weekly podcast, in which Victoria Police GLLO (LGBTI Liaison Officer) Gabby Tyacke introduces the listener to GLLOs from across the organisation. What is it like to be a GLLO in the Air Wing? What is the Special Operations Unit? How do you report prejudice-motivated crime? The GLLO Show podcast explores all of these questions and more.
Victoria Police has a number of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex liaison officers (GLLOs) across the state. The GLLO mission statement is to contribute to the creation of mutual trust between police, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender and intersex persons so they have increasing confidence in police through the provision of a fair and equitable policing service.
Now up to 16 episodes, the GLLO Show uplifts, empowers and informs the diverse LGBTI communities on issues of safety and the support available. JOY presenters Dee, Dylan, Fiona, Dene and Production Manager Jason have covered a range of topics, including the AFLW footballer who is also a respected GLLO, safety at beats, IDAHOBIT, the LGBTI student network at the force, family violence, safety at sex venues, welfare services, police recruitment and more.
Check out the GLLO Show now at joy.org.au/theglloshow or subscribe via Apple Podcasts.
