Dee Mason announced as the new co-host of JOY Drive

JOY 94.9 is thrilled to announce Dee Mason as the new JOY Drive co-host, joining Warren Andrew as of Monday 17th of August.

JOY Drive went to air in late June as part of JOY’S funded project by Geoffrey Smith and Gary Singer, to build a consistent, 5-day-per-week sound during JOY’s afternoon show. After trialling the first team for 6 weeks, JOY decided to make a change to one of the co-hosts. Dee was part of the initial pool of candidates who applied for the role in the original selection process.

About Dee Mason

Dee Mason is a well-known public personality, often found hosting events and chairing panels across Melbourne. A cis-woman who uses the pronouns she/her and identifies as lesbian, Dee’s talents have been featured across various community radio stations, and public events in both Melbourne and across Australia.

Dee Mason is a very well-known member of our JOY family, currently as the host of PopQueers Thursday nights, and Monday nights on the Dee and Johnno show. In the past, she performed as one half of Dano & Mason: Driving you Homo, as well as being a newsreader with the JOY News team.

Dee has represented JOY as part of the Sydney Mardi Gras broadcast team for the past three years and has worked as part of the Street Team and in the Broadcast Box for countless Midsumma Pride Parades. One of the highlights of her broadcast career was delivering the live broadcast of the vote for marriage equality.

Outside of JOY, Dee works as a Creative Content Producer, specialising in podcasting, graphic design and videography. These skills enhance her value as a well rounded broadcaster.
