JOY’s Public D&I Training returns for IDAHOBIT – book now!

Ahead of IDAHOBIT this year, JOY is opening a special public session of our Workplace Diversity & Inclusion Training at the Victorian Pride Centre on Thursday, May 16!

International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination, and Transphobia (or IDAHOBIT for short) is marked globally each year on May 17. With this year’s theme “No one left behind: equality, freedom and justice for all”, it’s the perfect time to ask: what might that actually look like?

In this professional development session normally held in workplaces, you’ll learn the basics of inclusion for the LGBTQIA+ communities. It’s a great opportunity to ask any of those burning questions you might have in a safe, welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment. You’ll even get to take a look around the JOY Studios in the beautiful Victorian Pride Centre!

After attending this session, you’ll be equipped to take the skills you’ve learned and report back to your workplace the following day, on IDAHOBIT, about how you might be able to make your workplace a more inclusive and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ people.

We have a limited number of spaces in this training session, so book early to avoid disappointment!

This short course covers:
Why diversity and inclusion is important in the workplace and in everyday life
The difference between sexual diversity and gender diversity
What, and who, the letters in the LGBTIQA+ acronym represent
Explorations of intersections of queer identities
Understanding privilege for different cultures, sexualities and genders
The power of inclusive language
Breaking down stereotypes
