JOY BLOG

A heartfelt thank you to all our drive show presenters!

15 Jun 2020

A heartfelt thank you to all our drive show presenters!

This week marks the last week on air for JOY’s current drive shows before the launch of a new JOY Drive on Monday 22 June, thanks to the ongoing investment from our Patrons Geoffrey Smith and Gary Singer.

This opportunity reflects the interest of sponsors for independent media, as well as creating employment pathways for our volunteers and the community.

We are excited by the new projects that many of our current drive presenters have decided to pursue at JOY, including new spots on the grid, pitches for new JOY TV shows and taking on new leadership roles. But first, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in drive.

In the words of JOY Program Director Rachel Tyler Jones, Thank you for being there for our listeners every single week, for taking our minds off the afternoon commute, for the laughs and for all the hard work and love you put into every single show. I’m privileged to work with each and every one of you, and I’m excited to see what you’re going to make next.

This is a huge thank you to:

  • Monday Annie and Ando – Annie Louey, Ando McDonald and Judd Boaz
  • Tuesday Jacq and Dene – Jacq Mifsud and Dene Cici
  • Tuesday Dee and Johnno: Dee Mason, Australia’s John O’Hara and Robbie Latour
  • MAD Wednesday: Dean Arcuri, Robbie Latour, Rachel Morrison (and a cast of thousands)
  • Thursday Tom and Jess: Tom Walsh, Jess Window and Andy McCutcheon
  • Friday David and Sue: David Hunt, Sue Wilkinson and Alex Dislakis

This isn’t goodbye – We are exploring the new opportunities that new technology and a new home at the Pride Centre open up. JOY is growing as an independent community media organisation, and all of the talent showcased here in these people is needed now more than ever before.

Once again, thank you for all your hard work and thank you for making great radio.

Listen live to JOY Drive from 4pm every day at JOY.ORG.AU, on 94.9 FM and DAB+ in Melbourne or via web apps such as TuneIn and iHeart Radio.
