JOY Tech Drive 2015
JOY 94.9 is Australia’s first and only community radio station, dedicated to being the voice of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) communities for over 21 years.
Lately, that voice is sometimes sounding a little distorted or hard to hear across the airwaves. This is because our transmitter is in urgent need of replacement and we need the support of the community to make it happen.
From April 4 to 12, JOY 94.9 presents Tech Drive 2015. This fundraising initiative is vital to raise much needed funds for a brand new transmitter and additional broadcast equipment for the studios to keep JOY being heard live, loud and proud on your radio.
The goal is to raise $20,000 to cover the cost of the transmitter equipment and installation. It’s an expensive piece of equipment but without it there will be a lot less JOY in the world.
JOY receives no direct state or federal government funding and like many other community radio stations is self funded, relying on sponsorship, membership and donations as well as the amazing collective effort of over 250 volunteers to stay on air and be a voice for the diverse LGBTIQ communities here and around the world.
The message is simple: make a donation during Tech Drive (big or small – every bit counts, and all donations of $2 or more are tax deductible) and in return we’ll invest all funds raised into a brand new transmitter to ensure JOY is heard out, loud and proud for many more years to come.
Support JOY 94.9’s Tech Drive by donating online or calling 1300 569 949.
