Our Volunteer Thank You Card peer recognition program facilitates JOY volunteers to nominate each other for acknowledgement and celebration.
Any volunteer can nominate another volunteer to be thanked and each week one person is randomly drawn from the pool of nominations. A ‘thank you card’ is put out in the communal area of the station and for one week volunteers and staff can sign the card and leave a message of thanks to that week’s volunteer for their contributions
All of our volunteers are stars – here are just a few who we all think are amazing!
Thank You Card #23
The twenty-third recipient of a Volunteer Thank You Card is: Lance!
Lance has been volunteering at JOY on the front desk since 2013. He is always a friendly face and extremely helpful to everybody at the station. Lance is involved in almost every JOY event and always offers a helping hand. He never takes credit for his contributions, but is consistent and reliable. Thank you, Lance!
Thank You Card #22
The twenty-second recipient of a Volunteer Thank You Card is: Rachel!
Rachel has been volunteering with JOY since 2014 and is currently part of our Daytime team, presenting the Tuesday morning music mix!
For several years she was a co-host on popular spirituality and sexuality program The Spirit Lounge (currently resting).
She is always one of the first people to offer extra help around the station or out in the community, and is regularly involved in our OBs including our most recent Pride March and Carnival OBs! Thank you, Rachel!
Thank You Card #21
The twenty-first recipient of a Volunteer Thank You Card is: Bek Savic!
Bek has worn a large variety of hats at JOY and currently presents bek-fast on Saturday mornings, 7-9:30AM.
This month Bek is celebrating two huge milestones with JOY –
15 years of volunteering and 650 shows with bek-fast!
She has volunteered in many roles over the years, including coordinating our Office Admin team for 10 years. In 2013 she received the Anne Hamilton Award for Volunteering Excellence, particularly in acknowledgement of her volunteer efforts in coordinating Radiothon. Thank you, Bek!
Thank You Card #20
The twentieth recipient of a Volunteer Thank You Card is: Chris Jameson!
Chris has been with JOY for 10 years and currently volunteers a huge amount of his time as our Music Director. He makes sure that JOY brings you Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix, week after week. He also brings us great Friday night radio with Cam on C + C Drive Factory! His volunteer contributions over the years have been so considerable and diverse that in 2014 he was awarded one of our highest honours – Life Membership. Thank you, Chris!
