JOY 94.9 update on COVID-19 (coronavirus)
PUBLIC NOTE – JOY 94.9 update on Coronavirus
During this period of uncertainty due to the spread of COVID-19, JOY 94.9 will ensure we continue serving our community and in particular, playing our role in keeping people informed of official Coronavirus updates.
At the same time, we are increasing our efforts to protect all members of the JOY team and enacting our responsibility in limiting the speed of the spread of the virus.
Independent community media is playing a crucial role in keeping communities informed, connected and entertained during this time of isolation and we want to share how we will continue to provide this service to the Australian community.
As usual, JOY will be broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via:
- 94.9 on the FM radio frequency
- 94.9 on DAB+
- JOY via the iHeart Radio and TuneIn apps
- JOY.ORG.AU for website streaming
- and you can catch up with JOY updates via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
JOY 94.9 is working remotely
From Wednesday 18th March, JOY 94.9 is moving to a mandatory, essential-only team members onsite stage, until further notice.
This means that we made the tough decision to broadcast most of our shows remotely. This is a difficult decision for us as a radio station, but our wonderful on-air team members that you love listening to, are working hard to keep broadcasting from wherever they are – their kitchens, living rooms, even their wardrobes!
This also means that you may notice some changes to the awesome sound quality that you’re used to from JOY. But we know how important it is to you that we keep broadcasting the music and shows that you love, so thanks for sticking by us.
JOY 94.9 to start hourly news updates
As a community media organisation, we have a duty to keep our audience informed, especially now, and to help them to be connected to what matters.
Thus, we will be scheduling hourly news, 7 am to 7 pm to ensure our community is kept as up to date as possible during this time, with the latest official updates from the federal authorities.
Listen live to JOY on the 94.9 FM frequency in Melbourne, online at JOY.org.au and on platforms such as iHeart Radio or TuneIn Radio. Also, don’t forget you can grab podcasts of our programs from your favourite podcast platform or from our website.
Your support right now is very important to us!
During this disruption, JOY 94.9 still needs your help and support to stay on air.
- You can donate or become a member at JOY.org.au.
- Thank you to our sponsors; your ongoing support is crucial to keep JOY 94.9 running and your message is more important than ever, with a greater number of people relying on their favourite radio and multi media organisation to keep them informed.
