A week at JOY-Sam’s work experience

A week at JOY-Sam’s work experience

Back in March, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting Sam, a high school student who came to undertake work experience with us, at our Victorian Pride Centre studios. We loved seeing his joy and positivity everyday  in face of the busy week before Radiothon that he worked with us.  We spoke to him about how JOY works and really enjoyed getting to know him, even got him chatting to our lovely Breakfast team.
Sam’s enthusiasm and eagerness to learn brought brightness and JOY to our days together so we asked him to share his experiences at JOY with our audience and he had this to say-
“Hi there!
I’m Sam, I’m 16 and I was fortunate enough to get to do my work experience with JOY MEDIA!
I’ve always been quite passionate about media and drama and that kind of stuff, so when I received the opportunity of doing work experience with JOY, I jumped at the chance!
My time at JOY was incredible! Not only did I get to learn so many new things & skills, I got to have an experience that was life-changing. The team at JOY all do their jobs so incredibly well and I am so entirely grateful for them having me, especially in such a busy, action-packed week that they were already having with Radiothon coming up. Still, they welcomed me and accepted me in a way that has been unforgettable.
I would like to thank each and every one people of the team at JOY for their knowledge and their advice that I know I will continue to carry with me throughout my journey, especially when choosing a career in the future, because the advice and knowledge I got is great for any job whether that’s in media or not. A huge thank you to Jae at JOY because after we had a few little bumps on the journey of getting me work experience with JOY, Jae jumped on in and saved the day, so a huge thank you to Jae!
To anyone in future years who is looking to perhaps doing their work experience with a radio station, I strongly recommend reaching out to JOY because regardless of how you may identify, JOY is great organisation to do your work experience with because they are really welcoming and accommodating, as well as, strongly accepting. You’ll get to learn loads and just be with so many incredible people.
Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better work experience. I am so so happy with how it turned out and I can’t wait to  remain in contact with JOY in the future! Once again, a massive thank you to everyone at JOY, keep being absolutely amazing, you all do such a great job and don’t get half as much credit as you all deserve!
I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity I received and will always keep listen to JOY! And you should too!”
